Amilcar Valencia

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, EL REFUGIO

Amilcar Valencia is a co-founder and Executive Director of El Refugio. Through his work, Amilcar and El Refugio's team accompany immigrants detained at the Stewart Detention Center, affirming their dignity, elevating their stories, and supporting their struggles to be free from detention. Together with local and national partners, they fight against ICE's detention expansion and to abolish the inhumane and unnecessary detention system.
