Yesenia Portillo

PROGRAM DIRECTOR, CISPES

Yesenia Portillo is the Program Director at CISPES, the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador, supporting national and international coalition building and strategic campaigns to raise awareness and push back against the harmful impacts of U.S. policy in El Salvador and to build solidarity with grassroots social movements. Yesenia has helped coordinate several delegations to El Salvador for diaspora and allies to connect with on the ground land defense and working-class struggles. Born and raised in Southern, California to Salvadoran parents, Yesenia graduated from the University of California in San Diego (Sociology and Ethnic Studies) and is now based in Washington, DC, organizing with local Salvadoran and Latin American diaspora solidarity groups.
